What is a Pizza Tart ?
Pizza Tart is similar to a pizza pie but the vessel which holds all the deliciousness is different. , slurp slurp, Fresh Tomatoes layered with caramelized zucchini, garlic, onion, EVO, thyme and super sharp provolone into a frozen pie/tart shell.
You don’t have to roll out pizza dough and you can really make this as fancy as you want to. Pizza for dinner, rather boring, Pizza Tart for dinner, pretty swanky. You’re entire kitchen is going to smell so delicious. The combination of the herbs, garlic cheese and tomato escaping inside the oven will make you drool, until it is ready. Outstanding recipe, especially paired with a BIG salad and delicious Chianti will be a success for any dinner.
What ingredients do you need to make pizza tart ?
YOU NEED Super Fresh, Ripe, local ingredients are always best. You will taste the difference using ripe vegetables. Make sure the tomato is perfect, it is the center of the dish. My preference is to use very sharp cheese. That sharpness cuts through the acidity in the tomatoes.
This olive oil drizzle can be made in advance. The longer it marinates together the better the flavor. EVO, garlic and fresh basil chiffonade. Can be kept in the fridge for 1 week covered.
What is chiffonade?
1)This is accomplished by stacking leaves.(one on top of the other)
2) Rolling them tightly.
3) Then slicing the leaves perpendicular to the roll.(very thinly)
Grab your frozen store bought pie/tart shell and schmear the mustard on the inside, before we start layering the ingredients.
